My Approach

As guide and support, I provide the training and skills, but I believe you are the expert in your own life. I approach the therapeutic process with curiosity, learning with my clients about their needs.  I am collaborative and love to support my clients to feel empowered in their therapy.  Together we explore your experience, process where you feel stuck, and find the path to move forward. I want to support you in feeling more trusting of your own nervous system and intuition.

About me

I truly love the work that I do.  I have tried a lot of different jobs in my life, but ultimately, I was always the most fulfilled when I was supporting others.

I pursued a Master’s in Art Therapy after a lifelong love of artmaking.  Bringing art into settings that were often clinical, medical, or harsh always felt profound to me.  The “aha moments” art-making created for people in my presence solidified my love of this process.

I have provided group and individual sessions in many therapeutic settings, including inpatient psychiatric units with adults, children, and older adults, intensive outpatient programs, schools, residential treatment programs, wilderness therapy programs, and through in-home support.

After more than a decade working in mental health, I wanted to understand trauma on a deeper level.  With Somatic Experiencing®, the work developed by Peter Levine, I learned how stress and trauma live in our physiology and how to support clients in deep, body-oriented trauma processing.  My primary teachers in Somatic Experiencing® were Ariel Giarretto, Russell Jones, and Berns Galloway. I currently assist in the SE training and am an approved session provider for beginning students.

I am located in Asheville, North Carolina.  The native stewards of the land where I work and reside are the Cherokee (ᏣᎳᎩᏱ ᏕᏣᏓᏂᎸᎩ or Tsalagiyi Detsadanilvgi) people.  Two of my secrets to life are lots of laughter and play.  I believe that it is vital to still seek out joy as an adult.  I love to spend my personal time hiking in the mountains with friends.   I also love being a part of the creative and artistic community that calls Asheville home.
